Parents & Friends Association (PFA)
Welcome to the website pages for the Parents & Friends of Wilmington Grammar School for Girls. All Parents automatically belong to the ‘Parents & Friends Association’ (PFA), but being a ‘Friends’ association membership is not confined to Parents and Teachers, but is extended to include other family relations, and members of the public who have been approved by the Committee.
We hold five to six Committee meetings a year and our Annual General Meeting is in October. Everyone is welcome to attend any of our meetings.
We organise a varied programme of events for both students and parents throughout the year, including Discos, Quiz Nights, Pamper Evenings and a Christmas Fair.
We also raise funds to provide additional resources for the students which cannot be met from within existing finances. We are always looking for new ideas for fund-raising events so please get in touch if you feel there’s something we should try.
Supporting the Parents & Friends
Joining in activities – In addition to organising our own functions, we also support the school by providing refreshments at Open Days and evening events. All these activities are only possible with the help of volunteers.
Internet Shopping - Many of you will now be shopping on the internet. Remember, by logging on to www.spendandraise.com/wilmingtongirlsgrammar when making purchases online the Parents & Friends will automatically receive a commission – at NO COST TO YOU. There are numerous companies listed including Amazon, Comet, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Oddbins, Index to name but a few.
The method of purchasing is very straightforward ….
- Go to their Directory of Suppliers
- Choose your supplier from the participating companies
- Then make your purchase in the usual way.
Spend and Raise will then record your purchase and send us a commission.

Company Sponsorships - We would like to hear from anyone who works for a bank or building society, or other company that provides a ‘match funding’ scheme, or offers Sponsorships or Grants.
Practical Help - If any parent has a particular skill or talent, or equipment that could be of possible use at future events please let us know. If you are interested in assisting with any of our activities please contact Tony Woodgate (Chairman) or any Committee member.
‘Nearly New’ School Uniform Shop - We have a range of second-hand uniform in excellent condition for sale at very reasonable prices and we are always pleased to receive further donations.
Receiving the latest news by email –We circulate details of our forthcoming events by letter to parents brought home to you by your daughters. We also send emails to parents when we have their email details. If you do not currently receive regular emails from the PFA, and would like to be placed on our circulation list just send an email to Sarah Connelly (Vice Chair) giving your name, address, contact phone number, daughter’s name & Class, and most important – your email address. You will then be sent the latest news and details of forthcoming PFA events by email.
