Blog week ending 1st December
Students were treated to a morning of crime and mystery as award-winning author Robin Stevens came in to talk to them about her series of books, ‘Murder Most Unladylike’. Joined by a group from The Holmesdale School, Year 7 and 8 students learnt about Robin’s childhood at boarding school and love of all things spooky, before creating their own thrilling short story. Students then got the chance to meet Robin and get copies of her books signed – along with a few selfies!
The Wilmington Grammar Schools have been delighted to welcome their host partner industries, Laing O Rourke and Whitecode to the official handover meetings for the launch of the new Design, Engineer, Construct (DEC!) programme. The new course which is being studied at both Level 2 and Level 3 helps to prepare students for careers in the construction industry. Locally, nationally and internationally, businesses in this growth sector are crying out for architects, surveyors, electro mechanical engineers and civil engineers. The ‘adopt a school’ programme gives the students a competitive advantage and a foothold into this sector by allowing them to work with industry specialists using industry standard software on real life projects. Equally popular with girls and boys, we look forward to seeing some amazing constructions emanating from Wilmington in the future. Move over Norman Foster, your Gherkin may soon be overshadowed!

Our Year 7 art students have created a rainbow kitchen art display in our foyer – and it looks amazing! A very cheerful and creative addition to the school entrance.
Year 8 physics students conducted a practical lesson investigating pressure. Students predicted, then measured how increasing the area of the supports changes how deep the supports will sink into the sand.
Safeguarding Tip. Don't forget to regularly check your daughters phone/device. Talk to her about e-safety and ensure the security is up to date on all apps. For more information, click here.
