Curriculum Overview

Due to the Government changes to the curriculum please see the proposed plan for the curriculum from academic year 2016/17.

Key Stage Three

Students study a broad range of subjects in Years 7 & 8

Art Geography Music Wilmington Mindset (Yr 7)
Biology History PE RS
Chemistry ICT Physics Technology
English Mathematics Learning for Life French
French, Mandarin, Spanish (alternate years)    


Key Stage Four

During Years 9, 10 and 11 students study both GCSE subjects plus a range of enrichment courses designed to broaden their KS4 experience. Due to changes within the national agenda, each Year group is following a slightly different pathway having made option choices at different stages.

Present Y9 and 10

In Year 9 students begin their GCSE courses in Mathematics, Science and RS and a bridging course from KS3 to KS4 in both Languages.  They also study an Integrated Learning course in which English is the core subject linking History, Geography, Music, Art and Technology.

In Year 10, students begin their GCSE courses in English, at least one Modern Foreign Language plus up to 3 Option subjects from the following:


Art Geography History
ICT Music Performing Arts
PE Food Product Design
Textiles Computing 2nd Modern Foreign Language


All students can choose a suite of EBacc subjects

Present Y11

The present Year 11 students complete their remaining GCSE subjects and are able to broaden their knowledge and interests by selecting from a range of enrichment courses.

All students will study a minimum of 11 GCSE’s although most students will achieve more.
